New Bakerloo Line Trains May Arrive Sooner Than Expected
Good news for Bakerloo line commuters! After years of delays, the 53-year-old trains—some of the oldest on the London Underground—could finally be replaced before 2030.
TfL boss Andy Lord recently shared that new walk-through, air-conditioned trains (like the new Piccadilly line ones) could be ordered soon, thanks to a fresh £2.2bn funding boost from the government. But while plans are moving, the trains won’t hit the tracks until later this decade due to necessary infrastructure upgrades.
Still, it’s a step forward—and could also pave the way for the long-discussed Bakerloo line extension.
