London Is Getting Its First-Ever Museum of Brutalist Architecture
A brand-new Museum of Brutalist Architecture is set to open in Camden, inside the Grade II-listed brutalist assembly hall at Acland Burghley School — one of the UK’s last remaining brutalist school buildings.
The 1968 hexagonal hall, designed by post-war architects Howell, Killick, Partridge & Amis, will undergo a major renovation thanks to a £1 million National Lottery grant. The refurb will restore original features, improve accessibility, and create new gallery spaces.
Developed by Urban Learners, the museum aims to celebrate the concrete giants of London's skyline — from the Barbican to the National Theatre.
No opening date has been announced yet, but the project promises to be a community hub and architectural landmark for generations to come.
